Urban Sanctuary Spa, a brief history:

Urban Sanctuary Spa was started by two friends with a vision of a beautiful place where people could spend an afternoon or even an hour and find total Sanctuary - a place of Beauty and Wellness.

Alan McArthur and Candice Courcy met in Tucson, Arizona and worked together at one of the largest Day Spas in the United States. With over 25 years combined experience in the Spa Industry, they have both trained and educated Spa Staff and Massage Therapist around the US and Mexico.

After spending over a decade exploring & studying life enhancing disciplines including Ayurveda, Ontological Philosophy and other Healing Arts, Alan decided to take his vision home to Athens, Georgia.

Candice created a line of Organic body products under the name Nirvana Bodytherapy after returning from a journey to India. From her years of extensive research and study in the fields of Aromatherapy, Ayurveda & Herbs, she developed formulations that has begun a following of enthusiasts around the country. Her products can be purchased on the Products pages of our website or at Urban Sanctuary Day Spa in Athens, Georgia.

Since opening Urban Sanctuary in February 2005, Candice and Alan have become very active in Athens community organizations.  These include the Junior League of Athens, Athens Wedding Professionals, Five Points Business Association and the Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals Network.
